Happy Xmas, Save the Planet

Xmas is coming and it is one of the most festival events of the year. Many people would take this opportunity to have friends and family gathering and gifts exchanging. There will be a lot of food, decorations, gifts and cards, however, the sad thing is most of them are wasted. It applies not only to Xmas, but also other festivals throughout the whole year.

Waste means resources fully utilized. Remember everything is produced by burning the fuels and using up water. They include wrapping paper, Xmas tree lights, food, xmas trees and etc.

Peckham Springs

Took the family to undertake our first sampling in the local park.  Decided to sample the slightly smaller pond in the 'Chinese garden' are as it was more secluded, rather than face the bread throwing children around the main pond.

Kids loved getting involved and 'doing science'.

When looking on Google maps I saw that the pond and small steams are part of the old River Peck.

Water - The driving force of life

Water has always been entwined in the complex ecological balance on Earth. How ironic that human civilizations evolved and
thrived for thousands of years around water bodies like rivers on Earth and the same human populace will soon face a

No water No life…

As rightly said by “Loran Eisely” US author:
“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water”….These words echo in me since I have attended the CSL training at Mir Alam Tank Hyderabad.
Between earth and earth’s atmosphere, the amount of water remains constant; there is never a drop more, never a drop less. This is a story of ecosystem a story of circular infinity, of a planet birthing itself.

2Nov2013 was the 2nd time I conducted FreshWater Watch actiivity. I was companied by 3 families of my neighbours, which included 4 4-7 years old kids . The children were very exciting and interested in being part of a scenictific experiment which helps them understand more about the planet they are living. By participated in the water collection process, they also got to know that we should be rigorous in Science and take any actions to protect the scared freshwater immediately.
