THIS MONTH: At Home
Install a low-flow shower head or aerators for your taps (faucets). Save the original shower head to put back on when you move out, if you live in an apartment with a strict landlord. Selecting a shower head with a flow rate of less than 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm) will save anywhere from 25-60% of your shower water. That's a lot of water, particularly considering multiplying this up over the course of a year and by the number of people in your household!
Should your washing machine or dishwasher become faulty, consider buying a new, energy-efficient appliance rather than repairing an old machine. It will save money longer term.
