Thanks for your interest in FreshWater Watch! Thousands of people around the world are helping us to investigate the health of freshwater ecosystems on a scale never seen before.
Everyone is welcome but please note that FreshWater Watch is best undertaken as a team - be it through your work, local school or voluntary organisation. Unless you plan to gather significant data we recommend that you participate as part of a group.
Interested in citizen science? You may want to learn about other Earthwatch research programmes. Visit earthwatch.org for details.
A growing number of volunteer groups are signing up to participate in FreshWater Watch. Group members receive free water sampling kits and access to our online community. Is there a group near you? FreshWater Watch also helps to organise (UK) events covering the Thames and Bristol Avon catchment areas. These "Water Blitzes" are open to the public with the aim to gather as much data as possible over 24-48 hours. Our first event in Sweden was held this year. Click the buttons below for more information.
If there are no groups or events in your region, it is possible to subscribe as an individual. However, as a charity, we have to charge for this service. We also ask that members are able to commit to taking regular water samples (at least once every 3 months) for at least one year. This will help us to build a better picture of water quality in your area. To become a member, please subscribe below. You will receive a water testing kit plus access to our online platform to upload your results.
